Proud of Who We Are

We’re proud of the environment we’ve created – for our staff, our learners, and our wider community. Take a look below at the accreditations we’re proud to hold.

Equality, Diversity & Inclusion

We believe that inclusion is fundamental to creating a culture of belonging, where barriers are identified and addressed, individual differences are celebrated, and every member of our college community can thrive and achieve their full potential.

Achieving Silver recognises the positive culture we have built together and our commitment to continuous improvement. By embracing diverse perspectives, promoting equity, and fostering a sense of belonging, we strengthen our college community and ensure that inclusion remains at the heart of everything we do.

Our FREDIE Commitment

We are proud to hold the Investors in Diversity Silver Award, recognising our commitment to creating an inclusive culture where everyone feels valued, respected, and empowered to succeed.

The award reflects the progress we have made in embedding the FREDIE principles of Fairness, Respect, Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Engagement across all aspects of college life.

Disability Confident Employer

Stoke on Trent College proudly holds certification as a Disability Confident Employer (Level 2).

We are committed to attracting, recruiting, and supporting colleagues with disabilities and long-term health conditions, ensuring equal access to opportunities and a supportive working environment.

Proud Stoke Space

Stoke on Trent College is proud to be a Proud Stoke Space, demonstrating our commitment to creating a welcoming, safe and inclusive environment for everyone.

As part of this pledge, we actively promote equality, diversity and inclusion, challenge discrimination, and foster a culture where LGBTQ+ staff, students and visitors feel respected, valued and able to be themselves.

We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to thrive in a workplace where they feel supported, celebrated and included.

Domestic Abuse Workplace Champions

We are committed to creating a safe, supportive and inclusive workplace where colleagues feel valued, respected and able to access help when they need it. As part of this commitment, we have established a network of Domestic Abuse Workplace Champions, providing an additional source of support for staff who may be affected by domestic abuse.

Developed in partnership with New Era, our Champions have received specialist training to offer a confidential listening ear, guidance and signposting to appropriate support services. They play an important role in raising awareness, reducing stigma and helping to foster a culture where individuals feel safe to seek support.

This initiative reflects our wider commitment to staff wellbeing, safeguarding and creating a workplace culture built on compassion, respect and belonging.

Armed Forces Covenant

We proudly signed the Armed Forces Covenant, demonstrating our commitment to supporting those who serve or have served, and their families.

We actively encourage applications from ex-service personnel and are committed to ensuring fair treatment and access to opportunities. This commitment has been recognised through the Employer Recognition Scheme Bronze Award.

Fostering Friendly Employer

As members of The Fostering Network’s Fostering Friendly Employers’ Scheme, we are committed to supporting colleagues who foster.

This commitment is reflected through our Family-Friendly policies and workplace practices.

Menopause Workplace Pledge

Stoke on Trent College is proud to be a signatory of the Menopause Workplace Pledge.

We are committed to creating an informed, supportive, and inclusive workplace. This includes awareness initiatives, dedicated training for staff and managers, Menopause Meet Ups, and Menopause Champions.

Flexible Working

We recognise the importance of flexibility and work-life balance. We proudly support the Happy to Talk Flexible Working scheme, developed by Working Families and the Government’s Flexible Working Taskforce.

Where roles allow, we are always open to discussing flexible working arrangements.
